2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully (this has been posted to your exam teacher's Google Classroom). Identify at least one potential point that you missed out on for each question in the assessment. 

Question one:

-The Stormzy 2020 tour poster contains a range of conventions that communicate meanings that audiences would recognise and understand as a concert promotion – venue (Motorpoint Arena), artist name, date, website etc.

Question three:

-Funding model is outdated in the digital age – licence fee which costs £174.50 a year (from April rising to £180) a year for all BBC (and some C4) content isn’t realistic. Young people are increasingly choosing to avoid paying the licence fee so long-term future of funding model isn’t viable.

Question four:

-Cultivation theory (Gerbner) suggests that watching TV will, over a period of time, influence the audience’s ideas and perceptions of everyday life. This could be argued to be damaging to audiences if content is inappropriate or violent. However, UK television is regulated by Ofcom to protect audiences (particularly young people) from inappropriate content.

I could have spoken more about the BBC in order to get 9/9 marks

Write a new paragraph for this question based on the suggested theories/answers in the mark scheme. Make sure it is an extensive, detailed paragraph focused on the question and offering examples from the wider media.

I largely agree that the media can have a damaging effect on audiences,Gerbner argues that long-term exposure to television cultivates a distorted view of reality, especially through the “mean world syndrome,” where heavy viewers come to believe the world is more violent and dangerous than it really is. This suggests a gradual but powerful media influence on perceptions and attitudes.Furthermore it shows that overtime media creates a crippling effect on people.
